To celebrate the event Giulio Cappellini held a lecture on the March 6, 2014.
March 2014, Taipei – After the opening in Manila, Philippines in 2012, Cappellini opens its second showroom in Asia (Taipei, Taiwan) in conjunction with its local partner MOT. To celebrate the opening, the legendary talent scout and trendsetter Giulio Cappellini spoke about “Cappellini’s Dream”, a story of people and meetings and success. This invitation-only event for design and architecture fans, took place on Thursday March 6, 2014.
Giulio Cappellini – architect, art director and a widely recognized trendsetter in the international design field – will visit Taiwan for the first time to share his insights on the world of modern design and classic design. Appointed as one of the top 10 trendsetters of our time and as one of the most charismatic leaders in design by TIME magazine, Cappellini helped to launch the world’s greatest and award-winning designers such as Marc Newson, Jasper Morrison, the Bouroullec brothers, Marcel Wanders, Nendo and Tom Dixon, to name just a few.
Since 2008 JUT Living Development has continuously reflected on the subject of functionality and the vision of a better future. With their various product branches of home furnishings: art, dining, internet, and media, they operate many major brands: “MOT” which introduces designers’ furniture, an art gallery, an art shop, a flower concept shop, restaurants, and an online media. MOT/CASA will exclusively distribute Cappellini Italian furniture in a mono-brand showroom where typical “Cappellini HOME” settings will be created with all the famous icons of design as well as the Cappellini container systems.
The new Cappellini showroom is located in the east part of the city, a well-known district where the main fashion and design luxury brands boast their flagship stores. The monochromatic yellow showroom from floor to ceiling is an 800 sq m (2,600+ square foot) ground floor area to showcase the Cappellini collection. In fact, every Cappellini showroom a dedicated color to connect it to city in which it is settled: yellow for Milan, champagne for Paris, red for New York, light blue for Cologne and turquoise for Manila.
Cappellini’s collection is characterized by experimenting and exploring new ways of living, allowing the whole domestic landscape to be furnished– from the living room, to the studio, to the bedroom, to the office. Many of the products have also become iconic pieces and are exhibited in museums throughout the world such as the V&A Museum in London, the MoMA in New York and the Pompidou in Paris.
Cappellini’s Italian furniture line includes modular furniture and solutions for residential and office areas and uses a combination of design and advanced technologies which give value to the company’s traditional craftsmanship approach. It is particularly renowned for its skilled lacquering processes and offers a palette of 80 high gloss and matt colors combined with a selection of accessories and modules in a variety of sizes. Giulio Cappellini is the creator of this unique brand. He is an emblematic figure in the international design scene and heads Cappellini’s Art Direction and the company’s product and communication strategies.
