Cappellini debuts limited edition of the Fish Chair by Satyendra Pakhalé
It will be exhibited in 40 pieces at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and at ammann//gallery booth in Design Miami
Milan, Italy | November 2014 – Cappellini and Satyendra Pakhalé are honoured to announce a special limited edition in Viola of the famous Fish Chair. It will be presented during Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami in various selected locations.
At Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden from December 6, 2014 to May 31, 2015 as part of the annual Design at Fairchild, the exhibition will blend art, nature, and design together to create a space where visitors are welcome to interact with the pieces and the surrounding nature. The exhibition will be curated by Cristina Grajales of New York’s Cristina Grajales Gallery. Fairchild’s 8-acre Arboretum will house the pieces, where they will be surrounded by more than 700 species of tropical flowering trees.
Pakhalé, who is represented by the internationally renowned ammann//gallery from Cologne, Germany, has partnered with creative director Giulio Cappellini of the Italian design firm Cappellini, so the Fish Chair in Viola will be exhibited also at the ammann//gallery booth in Design Miami.
Satyendra Pakhalé – multifaceted designer is from India and works from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He studied design at the Indian Institute of Technology and the Art Center College of Design in Switzerland. Through a series of award-winning design projects for leading clients and industries, his practice has developed a worldwide reputation for designing diverse innovative typologies, pushing the limits of technology and materials. Renowned companies such as Alcantara, Cappellini, Franke, Hästens, Novartis, Poltrona Frau, and Tubes rank among his
clients. Pakhalé considers design an expression of true human optimism and is motivated by social, technological, ecological, industrial and above all cultural parameters, as much as by a purely creative vision. His works are in permanent collections at prestigious museums throughout the world, among which the Victoria and Albert Museum London, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Centre Pompidou, Paris.
Giulio Cappellini, creator of the uniqueness of the company and emblematic figure in the international design scene, is universally recognized as talent scout of young designers. Over the years Cappellini has launched some of the world’s greatest designers, producing innovative and high quality furnishings from the likes of Jasper Morrison, Marcel Wanders, The Bouroullec brothers, Marc Newson and Nendo among others. About Design at Fairchild
Created in 2012 to complement the long-standing program of Art at Fairchild, Design at Fairchild supports cultural enrichment and a connection between the arts and sciences. The program sets design pieces against the lush tropical landscape of the Garden to link art, design, and nature together in harmony. Curated by Cristina Grajales from inception, exhibitions have included Sitting Naturally, a collection of benches specially designed by different artists for the Garden, and sustainable woodwork by Brazilian designer Hugo França.
